Vocation Story: My name is Edward Charnock. I’m from Mobile, and I’m entering my 3rd year at St. Meinrad Seminary. I like to walk and play sports outside, spend time with my family and friends, and I really enjoy cooking and learning new recipes. Some secret talents I have are playing the tuba, knitting, and speaking Spanish (work in progress). My favorite saint is Blessed Stanley Rother— an Oklahoma farm boy, then priest, who was martyred in Guatemala in the ‘80s. I began to discern the priesthood in my final year at McGill Toolen when I went on a retreat and met a priest who was hilarious and holy. This witness showed me the human side of a priest that I hadn’t seen before. Over the following year, I slowly became more interested in the priesthood. When that interest stuck around for months I realized it could be the Lord urging me to discern the priesthood. God helped me realize that seminary is a place dedicated to listening to God’s voice and growing as a Catholic man, so I decided to follow His guidance and join the seminary. Thank you for your abundant prayerful support.
